Habitat of Oil and Gas in the Gulf Coast
Bob Perkins, Gene B. Martin
The fourth annual research conference sponsored by the Gulf Coast Section Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists Foundation was devoted to the topic of the Habitat of Oil and Gas in the Gulf Coast. The purpose of the conference was to bring together a group of Gulf Coast specialists with wide and varying experiences to review the broader questions of hydrocarbon source, migration routes and mechanisms, and reservoir development as a basis for evaluating the habitat of Gulf Coast hydrocarbons. To this end some 200 delegates and 24 presenters met in Houston, Texas November 27-30, 1983 to hear and discuss some 21 papers and to participate in 10 poster and core workshop presentations, most of which were illustrative of the papers presented.
